Local flooding brings out rare mammal.

Whilst officers were in attendance at WEYCROFT Bridge, Axminster this morning assisting with road safety a water vole was captured on film escaping from the flood waters. 

Water voles are officially classified as endangered in Great Britain and England and protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act. Water voles are notoriously difficult to spot in the UK due to their shy nature, small size. 

If you are using the roads, please drive with caution and care, drive to the conditions and allow plenty of time for your journey. You should also increase your distance from other vehicles and stay attentive to your surroundings.
